Planet Zoo 2 Multiplayer

Ask whether Planet Zoo 2 is multiplayer and the answer is: it depends what you mean. The game connects players in two official ways, and it has no announced realtime mode. Here is exactly where each claim comes from.

What is confirmed

• Franchise mode animal trading: the official description says you build a global network of zoos and Wildlife Reserves and trade animals with other players. This is an asynchronous online market in the style of the first game's franchise market, now spanning zoos and reserves.
• The Frontier Workshop: browse and download player-created blueprints across platforms, and subscribe to your favourites. Creations flow between PC and console.
• Steam store tags: the game's category list includes Single-player and no multiplayer, co-op or online co-op tag.
• Console store labels: the PlayStation Store tags the game 1 player with online play optional, and the Xbox capability list reads Single player. Both are storefront labels rather than Frontier statements, which is why we list them and nothing more.

What is not announced

⚠️ Unconfirmed. No realtime multiplayer, no co-op building, no shared zoo mode, no visiting-other-players-zoos feature has ever been mentioned by Frontier. Note what this page does not say: it does not say never. Frontier has made no such statement, and we will not make it for them.

The community is asking for exactly this. Forum threads titled "I miss the Multiplayer!!!", "Trade with your friends?" and "VISITING OTHER PLAYERS' ZOOS" are among the most active pre-launch discussions. The wish is real. The feature is not announced.

How the first game handled this

Planet Zoo 1 launched single-player in 2019 and never added realtime co-op. Its Franchise mode created a shared market economy where players bought and sold animals without ever entering the same zoo. Planet Zoo 2's Franchise description is a direct continuation of that design, extended with Wildlife Reserves.
